Algeria: GSPC targets check points
The Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) has turned to target fixed security check points due to the failure of its suicide bombers in infiltrating into security centres and military barracks, according to observers.

GSPC’s leader Abdelmalek Droudkel and his followers have stepped up their attacks on security check points since the beginning of Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Observers believe that those acts represent revenge for the killing of 10 terrorists by the Algerian army.

According to the same source, Dellys attack was meant to draw media attention while the GSPC could not carry out terrorist acts during Ramadan.
