Algeria : Head of Human Rights Commission wonders why file of repentants' children is still pending
In a statement to Echorouk newspaper, the head of the national commission in charge of the promotion and preservation of human rights Farouk Ksentini said that the repentants' letter was on his desk and would be duly forwarded to the head of state Abdellaziz Bouteflika for a final decision on the matter.
Farouk Ksentini wondered why the repentants’ children issue had dragged so long because of what he said, the lingering red tape and bureaucratic hurdles.
He expressed the hope that this long-running file, concerning all those children born in the mountains in the nineties, would be resolved as soon as possible thanks to the personal intervention of President Bouteflika.
