Leader of human rights body in Algeria, Farouk Ksentini said Algerian detainees who were released from Guantanamo Bay have the right to sue the United States of America to ask for compensations.

  • “Four or five years in prison cause big moral and physical damages. Because of that, compensation is necessary,” Farouk Ksentini told Echorouk.

  • The lawyer advised the detainees and their families to go to US administrative courts to ask for compensations either on the US land or via a lawyer in Algeria.
  • He recalled that the Algerians were detained in difficult conditions without trial.
