Algeria : Illegal immigration to be discussed in next governmental meeting
The national solidarity minister will present to the government for study, a project to curb illegal immigration which proposes concrete measures consisting in helping young Algerians through small credits and jobs.
Talking yesterday to “Echourouk” the solidarity minister, Djamel Oueld Abbas revealed that his services draw a governmental project that will be submitted for approval by the head of the government.
The minister asserted that “urgent” measures will be implemented to stop this phenomenon blamed for the killing of dozens of young Algerians travelling on “death boats”.
In this respect, Oueld abbas denied allegations stating that he encourages illegal immigration saying that the question of “allotting 4 million Algerian Dinars” is part of the government policy to help young people to invest in his country not necessarily illegal immigrants”, and reacted to the allegation declaring that ther were false.
To recall, estimates reveal that the number of illegal immigrants reached 1568 during the last year, 1302 have been rescued while 266 others have either reached the other shores or perished at sea.
