A senior executive at the trade Ministry in charge of economic control and the struggle against fraud has announced that his services have recorded 8.824 offences committed by failing traders with 8.509 of them to be brought shortly before justice on charges of breaching the trading laws in force.

  • Abdelhamid Boukahnoun said that the trade Ministry’s control squads, in conjunction with other monitoring services, have ordered the closure of 331 shops and seized 179 tonnes of foodstuffs and staple commodities worth 8.6 million Dinars, after noting several offences regarding the price and poor quality of manifold products put on sale by venal traders in blatant violation of laws and regulations.

  • 1.972 offences related to the lack of hygiene and sanitation and 634 others linked to the outdated quality of the products on display have been recorded by the control squads since the start of the holy month of fasting of Ramadhan.

  •  Furthermore, 674 other informal traders were heavily fined for pursuing their trading activity without possessing the necessary trade register.
