Algeria: Mokri elected as MSP new leader
Abderrezak Mokri was elected as the new leader of Algeria’s MSP party and succeeded Abu Djerra Soltani. He won 177 votes at the Consultation Council compared to 65 votes to the council chairman Abderahmane Saidi.
Abu Bakr Kedouda was elected as the Consultation Council chairman and Ali Keddour as its vice-chairman.
Mokri sad he will work on creating “the wanted renewal inside the movement in order to develop the country.”
“ I will work on unifying the MSP and different Islamic movements in Algeria,” he added.
He believes that the election process is a “peaceful power change. It shows that there is renewal in visions and ideas.”
Soltani’s successor also said the MSP will work to reach the “leadership of society.”
Mokri’s election came as the MSP’s members were convinced that the system “betrayed them.”
Member of the Consultation Council Djaafar Chelili said the movement is deprived of some senior position such as prefects and diplomats.
