Algeria: National competitive exam to hire college graduates in religious affairs sector
A total of 450 imams underwent complementary training sessions in Algeria

Algerian religious affairs ministry will organize a national competitive exam in December to employ imams, religious guides and Wakf attorneys. Successful candidates will undergo a three-month-training session at the National School of Training Religious Affairs Executives in the province of Saida (west of Algiers). The exam will be opened to law, management and economics graduates, training director at the ministry said.

“A national competitive exam will be organized in December. Eligible candidates are licence and master degrees holders. Successful Islamic law graduates who learn the holly Quran by heart will be hired as imams and religious guides,” Said Maoul told Echorouk.

“As for successful master graduates, they will be employed as principal imams or principal religious guides,” he added.

The exam will also be opened to Islamic law, law, economics and management graduates to be hired as Wakf attorneys.

Maoul said the successful candidates will undergo a three-month-training session at the National school of Training Religious Affairs Executives in Saida. They will have 45-day-theory courses.

Speaking about Quran teachers, the official said they can benefit from a 7-month-training session to be promoted to imam teachers. A total of 450 imams underwent complementary training sessions in Algeria.

He added that the ministry works on anchoring national dimension in training imams and religious guides.
