Algeria : National Gendarmerie resorts to wind – mill technology to supply centres with electricity

The National Gendarmerie high command and a foreign company specialised in renewable sources of energy have initialled an agreement on the supply of electricity through wind – mill technology for the benefit of the various Gendarmerie centres.

• The agreement is said to be the first of the like at the continental level.
• The company will be in charge of setting up manifold pylons in various locations of the National territory to allow National Gendarmerie centres and outposts benefit from continuous electric energy through this ecological wind – mill process.
• The company’s General Manager told Echorouk that the environment friendly wind – mill technology was very economical and lasting as it is based only on the force of the winds.
• He added that the electric energy to be supplied through the wind-mill process would be renewable and cheaper stressing that it would not require a great deal of maintenance compared to other forms of energy.
• This major and salutary project, which will do a good turn to national agriculture as well, is expected to be launched as early as February 2009.
