Algeria-No talk of others joining Saudi oil boost

Algerian oil minister Chakib Khelil said on Sunday that he had not heard any discussion of other OPEC members planning to increase output, despite signs Saudi Arabia is trying to coax more oil from its Gulf neighbours.

• “No, I didn’t hear anything,” Khelil told Reuters when asked whether other OPEC members were planning to boost output. Saudi Arabia said on Friday it would step up production to 9.7 million barrels per day (bpd) in July, its fastest rate in decades.
• Khelil is also serving as OPEC’s president this year, but had made clear that he was attending the emergency talks in Jeddah in his capacity as Algeria’s top oil official.
