The National Education Minister Aboubakr Benbouzid has announced that the old baccalaureate exam for final grade high-school students will not be scrapped in the next academic year, as suggested by certain ill-informed quarters.

The Minister said that the current baccalaureate exam would remain in force for, at least the next 2 or 3 years, to allow those students, who had failed to pass it, to stand as free candidates in the coming years as part of incentive measures aimed at boosting the chances of future success.

He also indicated that all the courses given to the final “ grade students”, up to the 12th of May 2008, should be taken into account by the students in the upcoming baccalaureate exam in order to avert any bad surprises on D. Day.

The Minister further said that these students were slated to go on vacation as from May 12th to allow them to gear up for their crucial exam in the best conditions.
