Algeria orders prefects to distribute 199,000 social houses

Algeria’s housing ministry will officially deliver 199,072 public rental houses to provincial authorities who were ordered to start distributing them, according to interior and housing ministries’ joint instruction.

A total of 26,098 houses will be distributed in Algiers compared to 8,248 in Constantine and 6,722 in Oran.

“Upon instruction No 26 issued on January 20^th, 2013 by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal relating to inventory and distribution of ready public rental houses and in view of the importance of this reserve, prefects should order commissions in charge of social housing lists to speed up applications study and put beneficiaries’ list for fitted out and ready sites as soon as possible,” said the document.

Public facilities fitting out reached 80 percent at ready projects. The instruction suggested to the commissions to deal with applicants’ allocation contracts which include the house location and the apartment number before its final delivery.

The allocation contracts are meant to reassure applicants.
