Algeria ranked 112 on safety and stability : report

Algeria was ranked 112 in terms of safety and stability indicator, according to a report released by The Economist Intelligence Unit.

A total of 140 countries were involved in the study which is the second of its kind after the one issued in 2007.

The 2008 report was based on many assessment standards including democratic principles and practices, risks to which foreigners are exposed in those countries, corruption and other social scourges.

Many Arab countries were ranked before Algeria including Amman, 25, Qatar, 33, the United Arab Emirates, 42 and Morocco, 63.

The report indicated that the study was based on figures coming from the United Nations Organisation on a number of issues. Reports and information from the Interpol were also included in the 2008 report.

The study also dealt with trust between citizens in the same country.
