Algeria was ranked 112 in terms of safety and stability indicator, according to a report released by The Economist Intelligence Unit.

  • A total of 140 countries were involved in the study which is the second of its kind after the one issued in 2007.
  • The 2008 report was based on many assessment standards including democratic principles and practices, risks to which foreigners are exposed in those countries, corruption and other social scourges.
  • Many Arab countries were ranked before Algeria including Amman, 25, Qatar, 33, the United Arab Emirates, 42 and Morocco, 63.
  •    
  • The report indicated that the study was based on figures coming from the United Nations Organisation on a number of issues. Reports and information from the Interpol were also included in the 2008 report.
  • The study also dealt with trust between citizens in the same country.
