Algeria ranked second for websites piracy operations

A number of websites in Algeria Sunday presented the process of a big piracy operation by the so-called Internet pirates or “hackers.” Specialists in computing field automated alert alarm and called for insuring websites, especially in sensitive sectors.

• Internet information services expert confirmed on Sunday that it is not the first time a website has been pirated. Moroccan pirates had previously carried this kind of operation on the Algerian Presidency Website after they had written some assaulting words in it. Some newspapers have been subjected to piracy and tampering of their contents and articles.
• The same source confirmed that Algeria had become one of the countries mostly subjected to espionage and informatics piracy in the world. It was clear that programs and viruses were made in Israel and USA made to penetrate Algerian computers every day.
• An independent report published by “Web root Software” company specialized in protecting Internet networks said Algeria is ranked second for most exposed country to piracy in 2007.

• The report pointed out that Algeria is second before Puerto Rico and after Dominican Republic and Bahrain which are subjected to attacks of the “Spy Ware”.
