Algeria reinforces borders surveillance and protection via satellite
The Algerian space agency director Azzedine Oussedik Wednesday said three new satellites were launched on Monday. They will be used for many purposes. They will enable to reinforce surveillance and protection of borders.
Oussedik also said a new radio, TV broadcasting, Internet and telecommunications satellite will be launched in 2017.
“The new satellites were launched from India. It is important that Algeria has such satellites. There will be collaboration with national defence ministry by putting the satellite photos at its disposal,” he added.
He also said Algeria uses the satellite for peaceful purposes. It has become the first Arab country which possesses five satellites for radio, TV broadcasting, Internet and telecommunications.
“The construction of the new satellite is carried out at Bouchaoui plant in Algiers. It is underway in cooperation with foreign experts,” he told a new agency in Algiers.
He added that the new satellites will offer data for many ministries to achieve planned objectives in vital development fields. They will also be exploited to detect and manage some natural catastrophes such as floods, desertification and fires.
