Algeria rejects 24 Russian Mig-29 Jet fighters
Russian Defence Ministry bought 24 new Mig-29 Jet fighters with the total value of 535m euro, the equivalent of 25 billion roubles, Sergei Ivanov, Russian Deputy PM said Monday.

These military aircrafts, were manufactured by Russia after a request by Algeria March 2006 during Vladimir Putin’s visit to Algeria, however, Algerian army announced in 2008 that it rejected its request because the new military aircrafts contained old equipments.

The deal consists of 34 Mig-29 Jet fighters worth 987m euro. The Russian Defence Ministry contracted with the Russian factory in order to buy other military aircrafts, including six aircrafts for training and fight type Mig-29, to export them to Algeria.

“These military aircrafts were tested in Russia and experts confirmed their high quality which prompted leaders of the Russian Air Forces to agree on getting them.

Previously, Russian Daily Kommersant newspaper, reported that Algeria rejected its request of buying Mig-29 Jet fighters because they contained old electronic equipments.
