Algeria repairs 14 scanners in ports
Algeria’s customs general department repaired all the detectors and scanners at the port of Algiers, Oran, Skikda, Bejaia, Annaba, Tebessa.

The same department bought a new mobile scanner which was transferred to port of Algiers as part of a programme meant to modernise customs system.

Those measures were taken upon instructions from the CEO of customs Abdou Bouderbala and finance minister Karim Djoudi, Echorouk has learnt.

A total of 14 scanners of imported cars, vehicles and containers were repaired, said the same sources.

The customs department is expected to establish 23 surveillance centres along borders between Algeria and Tunisia.

Previously, CEO of customs said the government allocated 10 billion DZ to modernise the customs sector in 2007-2010. A total of 12 regional departments and 47 inspection departments have been created so far.

“The sector will be supported by an additional programme meant to improve services including the Internet and Intranet,” he said.
