Algeria reports three new cases of swine flu
Three more cases of swine flu were confirmed in Algeria, taking the total to five.

Health ministry said the 10-year-old girl and a young man were coming from the US while the 13-year-old girl was coming from France.

Two foreign nationals are still under laboratory tests after they showed symptoms of swine flu, a few days ago.

The ministry opened a comprehensive pandemic investigation on all the three infected people’s relatives and the passengers who accompanied them in their trips.

Head of communication cell at the ministry Salim Belkacem said Algiers’ Pasteur Institute confirmed a case of swine flu in the province of Oran (west of Algiers).

“An Algerian 10-year-old girl coming from France is infected by H1N1 virus,” he told Echorouk.

“Another 13-year-old girl is in a hospital in Algiers after laboratory tests confirmed that she is infected by the virus. She arrived to Algeria on June 23 from the US passing by Paris on a sea trip,” he added.

“On the same day, a 34-year-old man arrived to the airport of Algiers coming from the US. He is infected by the virus.”

Algeria reported the first case on June 20. An Algerian woman coming from the US was infected while the second case was confirmed two days later. Both of them recovered and left the hospital last Saturday.

The number of suspicious cases has reached 43 while the pandemic investigation is expected to deal with everyone who met the three new infected people.
