Algeria Security Boss: scarf is not compatible with policewoman’s job
Colonel Ali Tounsi, General Director of the National Security Department closed door to veiled girls who want to join the Police. “The police work is hard and tiring and the women who want to join it must take off the scarf,†he said Thursday.
In the closure of the Police’s media week’s proceedings in Skikda province (east of Algiers), Tounsi considered citizens as the basis in all the police work. He stressed the fight against crime in all its forms as it constitutes now one of the police’s priorities.
“The police must adapt to the amazing development of criminality. Thus, the General Department is going to set up three schools for police officers and 35 training centres in Ouarguela, Tamenrasset (south of Algiers), and Oran (west of Algiers).
The visiting colonel paid tribute to some policewomen, national and local personalities including a commissioner, the president of a cancer-stricken people’s association and the president of a youth social association.
