Algeria : self-defence Guards mobilised for protection of basic infrastructural projects
The number of self-defence patriots is estimated at over 80 thousand.

It's been announced that the authorities have decided to mobilize units of self-defence guards with a view to ensuring the protection from terrorist attacks of major infrastructural projects in some remote areas of the country.

These “patriots” will serve as back-up unit for troops of the National Popular Army who are already deployed in several provinces of the country as a bulwark against terrorist attacks which could target major structural projects.

Echorouk newspaper quoted well-informed sources as saying that guidelines have been issued recently by the relevant authorities ordering the armed patriots to mobilise and to deploy in several regions of the country as part of a new defense strategy aimed at safeguarding all the strategic infrastructural projects and preventing them  from being depredated by terrorist groups.

The same sources say that the number of these self-defence patriots is estimated at over 80 thousand adding that their contribution in the counter-terrorism struggle is deemed as significant.
