Several national personalities including former Prime Ministers Sid Ahmed Ghozali and Mokdad Sifi have announced their all-out backing for former FLN Party Secretary General, Ali Benflis, who is expected to announce officially his candidacy for the 2014 Presidential election later this month.

Sources from the managing election staff of Ali Benflis said that popular rallies were scheduled next week in several provinces of the country notably in Blida, Bouira, Khenchla and Tizi Ouzou to be crowned with the release of solemn declarations supporting the projected candidacy of the former FLN party leader.

A number of specialists and professors are now buckling to the task of working out the exhaustive election program to be expounded by Ali Benflis ahead of the next Presidential electoral contest slated for April 17th 2014, the same sources added.

Mr Ali Benflis and his close collaborators will be touring the 48 provinces of the country to meet with the local populations during the upcoming election campaign to expound and highlight the values and objectives of his electoral program, according to these sources.

Among other prominent personalities and civil society activists in addition to several academics and a host of Moudjahidine or war veterans, the two former Algerian Prime Ministers namely Mokdad Sifi and Sid Ahmed Ghozali have also voiced their full support for Ali Benflis in his quest for the Presidential rostrum.

They argued that this seasoned political figure had the appropriate ability and the necessary political acumen to foster a genuine democratic overture and to enshrine efficiently the rule of law in the country by doing away with nefarious past practices.
