Algeria south town clashes kill two

Two people killed and hundreds wounded during clashes between residents of Beriane town in the province of Ghardaia (600 km south of Algiers) on Friday.

Omar Kerouchi, a 42-year-old teacher, was shot dead while the 17-year-old Bachir Ben Mohamed Ben Zayed died after had been thrown from a high floor in a building.

According to local sources, the town was turned into a mass and anti-riot policemen have been deployed since Friday.

Notables have been trying to have control on the situation after several building were torched, asking for the intervention of gendarmes.

They believe there are “hidden backers” of the conflict and ask for an investigation commission.
