Mokhtar Ben Kadira , the national gendarmerie commander group of Ghardaia province said that 1,100 gendarmes were recruited to be involved in the security plan including all the state national gendarmerie units in Ghardaia in addition to intervention units drawn from Biskra and Aghwat ( south of Algeria), Djelfa and Msila ( west of Algeria), Kasr el Boukhari and Hassi Messaoud ( west of Algeria). The individuals were disseminated in hot neighboring cities to prevent the clash between the two parties especially Kaf Hamouda, Madagh, Hai el Moujahidin, El Mitkana and El Mandar el djamil.

The commander told Echorouk that liberté, the French-speaking  newspaper that the security plan aims at “ mitigating the loss in property”, and revealed that their had been more damaging shops, buildings , and motor vehicles, pointing out that since there was the arrival of reinforcements the security situation is now under control.

Ben Kadira commander stressed the arrest of the perpetrators of those events. “Gendarmes arrested during the interventions those who were involved in the destruction of them masked men”, they put masks on their faces, and they were living in the same city, I.e. Berryan , who managed to own dozens of white weapons, including machetes, daggers, hammers, in addition to iron peaces used in throwing, which caused serious injuries, especially at the head and eye level, in addition to small-sized balls used also in the attacks.

The commander confirmed that the riotous use “Molotov” bottles, explaining the frequent information about the use of firearms and hunting rifles, he said that investigations are underway in this regard, but he assured that they use big scales thrown from highest rooftops. 

The commander Ben Kadira added that he is running a parallel with the field work done by the national gendarmerie officers, and there is a coordination with the region dignitaries within the framework of the security committee to educate young men and deter them from resorting violence and vandalism and the need to hold on dialogue to quell what has become known as “ Berrian Sedition”. The undersecretary republic court of Berrian ordered to give 18 persons prison since last Saturday after the arrest of dozens of youngsters involved in those events whose ages are ranging between 20 and 30 years old.
