Algeria / Special committees to oversee assistance program for the poor and destitute during Ramadhan.

The National Solidarity Ministry has decided to set up special committee entrusted with working out and supervising the customary assistance program destined to the poor and destitute on the occasion of the holy month fasting of Ramadhan stated for early September 2008.

• Echorouk newspaper has learnt from reliable sources that the poor residents of certain “well-off” municipalities of the country will get up to 10.000 dinars as a financial assistance while those living in less fortunate municipalities will receive only 1000 dinars in addition to some staple commodities in their foodstuffs basket in expectation of Ramadhan.
