Algeria students voice anger over Gaza attacks
Hundreds of students gathered at a number of universities in Algeria on Sunday to protest against Israeli deadly attacks on Gaza.

Policemen surrounded Youcef Ben Kheda University in Algiers as dozens of students called for allowing them taking to the streets for a “peaceful march.”

At Science and Technology university, more than four thousand students took part in a demonstration over Gaza bombings, calling for an “Algerian honourable position.”

They burnt an Israeli flag and contributed in a one million signatures campaign, urging Muslim countries to boycott diplomatic relations with Israel.

Some 25 students including six Palestinians were arrested at a university in Batna (east of Algeria) after they had joined a march over the Israeli offensive on Gaza along with hundreds of students.

Security forces stopped the protesters who tried to walk outside the university, raising Palestinian flags and denouncing the Arab and international silence over the Israeli offensive.

The government banned demonstrations in 2001 following bloody clashes between security forces and protestors in a demonstration organised by Berber activists.
