Algeria: There would be no special sections of old education system for next year
Algerain Education Minister, Abou Bakr Ben Bouzid.

Algerian National Education Minister Abou Bakr Ben Bouzid on the sidelines of verifying the primary stage’ exams, he reassured the baccalaureate exams candidates for the new and old system.

  • He confirmed that most candidates for the session of 2008 are from the old system approximately out of 600 thousand pupils. A total of 50 percent of this system are free candidates while the maximum number of pupils in the new system is 10 thousand free candidates.
  • National education minister said that this year’s baccalaureate is different at all levels starting by six new branches of the new system including technical mathematics baccalaureate which contains four branches: technical mathematics, civil and electrical engineering and chemistry.
  •  The exams will be as normal as in previous years for the 15 branches-system. The minister confirmed that the door will remain open for the pupils who failed to use free candidature.
  •   He said that there would be no old system’s special classes next year as it will be the last session of the old system.
  • Earlier, the minister said that there would be no difference between the two systems and both exams with results would be of great importance. That dispelled pupils’ fears and concerns as to whether there would be a difference between both the old and new system’s baccalaureate.
