Algeria: Three 'AQIM suspects' killed in military raid
Algerian security forces killed three suspected AQIM terrorists in a raid near the Libyan border, local press reports said on Tuesday.
- The slain suspects allegedly belonged to Al-Qaeda’s North African branch, the so-called “Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb” (AQIM) and they died in a gunfight with the Algerian military.
- Two other suspected terrorists surrendered during the operation, one of Algerian and the other of Libyan nationality, according to reports.
- The five suspects were travelling aboard a Jeep with a cache of weapons including 12 sub-machine guns and a number of anti-tank missiles, according to the reports.
