Algeria Tightens Control At Airports To Prevent Coronavirus Spreading

Algeria has taken the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the “Coronavirus” epidemic in the country, the Director of Prevention at the Ministry of Health, Population, and Hospital Reform, Djamal Fourar, said on Sunday.

“We have installed monitoring device that contains thermal cameras to detect people infected with Coronavirus at the international airport, starting from last Thursday”; he added at a press conference that was held at the Ministry of Health.

“We took the same procedures at the level of Constantine Airport (eastern Algeria) on Saturday and in Oran Airport (western Algeria) today”.

“Our teams are working to monitor flights coming from Doha, Dubai and Istanbul”.

“This is not the first time that we launch such measures at the level of Algeria airports. We did this previously, for example, to counter the swine flu in 2013”.

“it is not possible to transfer the Algerian students who are in the Chinese city of Wuhan because of the quarantine that is imposed on the city due to the spread of the virus there”.

“The crisis is international even in the European countries that have nationals, especially university students in the same city. There is coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Foreign Ministry regarding this file”.

During the past few hours, social media circulated a video of an Algerian student in the city of Wuhan asking for his evacuation with his Algerian friends outside China.

The Director of Prevention at the Health Ministry said that special measures will be taken to check pilgrims who are returning from the holy sites in Saudi Arabia, to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

“If the Coronavirus continues until the Hajj season, there will be health measures before pilgrims will move to Saudi Arabia”.
