Algeria tightens spare parts control

Algerian trade ministry announced strict control measures on all ports and border points to detect fake spare parts coming from Europe and eastern Asia.

• The ministry said it will keep watch on the source of spare parts and check if they meet original products standards.

• Figures from the National Statistics Centre show that the import of fake spare parts to Algeria from France, Spain, Italy and the United Arab Emirates appears on the rise.

• Last year, traffic accidents killed about 4,200 people and injured more than 100,000 across the country.
