Algeria tightens up security at schools neighbourhood
Algerian Education Ministry will step up security measures around schools to prevent harassment and violence against teachers and pupils.

These measures come following concerns raised by parents over violent acts to which their children are exposed at schools neighbourhood.

Teachers and pupils are subject to harassments and violent acts committed either by children’s parents or individuals in areas surrounding schools.

The ministry says 315 new junior high schools, 87 high schools and 209 canteens were delivered in December. Meanwhile, 59 new junior high schools, 10 high schools and 72 canteens are expected to be delivered in January.

These infrastructures will be opened in the next school year to meet the growing number of pupils mainly in junior high schools level.
