Algeria: Tizi Ouzou bombing reflects confusion inside Salafist Group
The suicide attack which targeted a police station in Tizi Ouzou province (100 km east of Algiers) Sunday causing 25 injured did not achieve the goals of the Salafist Group's command.

One ton of explosives in the car bomb was a quantity supposed to reach as large as possible number of victims.

This suicide act came 2 days after the elimination of of Benchoud battalion’s leader in Boumerdes ( 50 km east of Algiers). He was described as one of the most dangerous terrorists belonging to the old generation of the Salafist Group of Preaching and combat (GSPC).

This suicide attack is considered the fourth since the beginning of this year as well while the first one happened in the same province.

Security observers in Algeria believe that the failure of terrorist attacks is failing especially the suicide is considered as “the fruit of security work.”

Witnesses said the suicide bomber who was driving the vehicle in Tizi Ouzou “was confused and tried to disembark and flee before the car explosion.” That leads to the hypothesis that some of the suicide attacks where car bombs were remotely detonated failed because the suicide bombers were afraid the last moments.
