Algeria to attend senates conference in Sudan

Algeria will attend the third conference of the Association of Senates, Shoura Councils and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World on November 24-26 in Khartoum, the Council of Nation said Saturday.

• The conference proceedings will deal with the situation in Sudan and the reality of peace in it, said a statement published by the Council.
• The Algerian delegation led by Vice-Speaker Mohammed Boukhelkhal will also attend the fourth meeting of the association’s council. The participants will discuss issues related to institutional fields of the association and approve it agenda.
• About 300,000 people have died and 2.5 million have fled their homes in Sudan’s western region of Darfur since a conflict broke out between rebels and the government almost six years ago.
