Algeria to build big hospitals with international criteria

The Algerian government will build big hospitals in nine provinces in the center, east, west and south in conformity to international standards, Echorouk has learnt.

This comes as Abdelmalek Boudiaf was appointed as new health minister to succeed Abdelaziz Ziari.

The hospitals project was ordered by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika after he had suffered a stroke and had been taken to France for treatment, according to the same sources.

The Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal was assigned to examine projects to build “respectable” hospitals in conformity with international standards.

Boudiaf is expected to meet with the Algerian housing minister Abdelmadjid Teboune on Monday and a committee in charge of projects to examine the projects plan.

He told Echorouk platforms and the plan are ready and all what remains is the enterprises in charge of the construction.

Sources say the housing ministry assigned a number of enterprises with international criteria to speed up the construction works. Foreign and European staffs will manage them for five years. Then, an Algerian staff will be trained to accomplish the tasks after acquiring necessary experience from its foreign counterpart.

Those hospitals will open their doors to people from Arab and African countries.

They will also train medicine graduates and supervise medical researches.
