Algeria to examine illegal immigrants bodies transfer

Algerian illegal immigrant’s bodies will be discussed by Algerian solidarity ministry and representatives of Algerians living abroad in a meeting due to be held in the next few days.

• Algerian solidarity minister Djamel Oueld Abbas who was on a Mediterranean tour said he had held talks with officials in Europe to figure out means to recover the bodies detained at their mortuaries.

• “I went to the mortuaries of some countries in southern Europe and I checked some bodies but it was impossible to identify them,” he said.

• “The exact number of the Algerian bodies at those mortuaries can not be determined,” he added.
•  
• President of the association of Algerian workers defence in France Bedaoui Mouafak said the transfer of a single body from Europe to Algeria costs more than 2,000 euros.

• “Associations and the civil society in Europe can not afford the transfer of hundreds of Algerian illegal immigrants at their own expenses,” he added.

• For his part, the leader of the Algerian commission for Algerian youngsters relief said the whereabouts of 4,000 illegal immigrants who tried to reach Spain are still unknown.

• The phenomenon of illegal immigration from Algeria to Europe appears to be on the rise while Italy and Spain remain ones of the main entry points used by would-be immigrants attempting to reach Europe.
