Algeria to Send a Humanitarian Aid Convoy to Gaza

Algeria will provide humanitarian aid to Gaza population in the coming days, Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci said.

“Algeria, which has embraced the Palestinian cause and commemorated the 24th anniversary of the Declaration of the Palestinian state, will remain faithful to its principle and will continue to support the Palestinian people, so that it will have the right to recover sovereignty over its territory”, he added.

“International community has to take a couragous and determined position, to stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since last Wednesday, and which left, according to the latest toll 83 killed and more than 700 wounded”.

Medelci explained, in a statement to the Radio on Monday; “A brave and firm position of the international community is necessary to stop this barbaric attack, and to enable the Palestinian people of their right to establish their independent state according to the 1967 borders, and to have Jerusalem as a capital.”

“President Mahmoud Abbas is willing to submit a formal request for the vote of the General Assembly of the United Nations, to accept Palestine’s membership in the UN body. This move is important and special towards the establishment of a Palestinian state”.

“All the Palestinian factions should unite, because it is an important issue in the direction of establishing the future Palestinian state.”

“Algeria’s position towards this attack within a series, based on Israeli violence, settlement and coalition against a people that demands only the right to exist and live in dignity at home.”
