Algeria : Tonic’s employees call on president Bouteflika to save their jobs

As reported in Tuesday’s online edition, Tonic group workers organized a sit- in by the group’s different units to call on the Algeria president to intervene in their favour and save their jobs.

• Various employees declared to “Echourok” that they were not ready to pay for a situation they were not responsible for, adding that they were, on the contrary, ready to participate in finding an outlet for their crisis after seven years of faithful efforts and sacrifices to put their company on the zenith.
• They went in saying that the decision to dismantle this group would serve the foreign companies’ interests which competed between each others to control the Algerian markets valued at some $ 600 millions per year.
• The group’s employees were forced to take to the streets because power and water supply were cut causing a total paralysis of the units’ activities. For his part, the group general manager slashed at the liquidator’s practices in dealing with case.
