Algeria : top manager in prison for money embezzlement

The former head of the personnel at the giant pharmaceutical company “Saidal”, (Biotech branch) yesterday appeared before the court of Algiers on charges of the embezzlement of more than 10 million Algerian Dinars.

The story started following a complaint lodged by the company’s general manager in 2002, in which the convict has acknowledged that he used to pay invoices already settled by the company and was transferring the money on his personal account.

In his revelations this one declared that he spent all the money in night clubs and giving a great part to his girlfriend. He added that he embezzled the money in time record of 3 months through 20 doubting operations.

The main convict was sentenced to 8 years in prison while his girlfriend took a year firm.
