Algeria: two suspects sentenced to 10 years prison for arms dealing
The suspect admitted that he had introduced 175 hunting guns through Algiers’ port.
A court in Oum Elbouagui (east of Algiers) sentenced two people G.A. and B. B. to 10 years in prison and ordered them to pay 131 million Algerian dinars for illegal arms trade.
- An arrested suspect M. M. said he bought some hunting arms from G. M, 42, who was heard by judicial police on July 14th 2007. He admitted that he did business in arms without licence by buying them from France. His associate B. B, 54, was in charge of introducing the arms to Algeria on imported cars through Algiers’ port.

B. B. confirmed that he introduced 175 hunting guns through Algiers’ port in 6 phases on cars imported from France. Algerian customs officers helped him in return for 250 to 300 Euros.
