Algeria war veterans to get job promotion without test
Civil servants members of Algerian war veterans’ families benefit from job promotion without taking professional tests if they enjoy seniority of work and eligibility, according to a government directive issued in early January.

Sources at Algerian education ministry said war veterans or their successors will have the priority for promotion without professional tests.
-
Press attaché at the National Union of Education and Training Workers said the ministry confirmed to them the priority right for war veterans’ relatives.

Civil service in Algeria counts more than 600,000 employees in education sector. Educations trade unions are sceptical regarding the new directive as they have fears that the war veterans would monopolise the professional tests.

On the other hand, the education ministry said in a statement it did not oppose the directive as it came following many claims submitted by members of war veterans’ families.
