Algeria will not live the 1990's again, security expert says
Martin Evans

Talking on a forum at the Royal Institute for Defence and Security matters in Britain, on the terrorist threats in Algeria and North Africa, the security expert said the context in today’s Algeria is completely different from the 1990s because the terrorist groups have lost much of their power and their members are not that efficient.

In this respect, he declared that the “ Salafit group for call and combat” is rather seeking to recover legitimacy and that the name of “Al Qaeda” is like a “brand” used by desperate terrorist groups, adding that the fight against terrorism was successful in Algeria.

The forum brought together, top officials at the defence ministry, diplomats, researchers, Algerian organizations’ representatives and media people.
