Algeria’s Ghezzal enters as substitute, plays for 15 minutes and shown red card
Unfortunately, Algeria’s fans were right when they asked national coach Rabeh Saadane to exclude striker Abdelkader Ghezzal from the team. The final result of Sunday’s match against Slovenia was a terror movie scenario directed by the “great artist†Ghezzal as the coach was indifferent to the fans’ call.

Whatever the fans’ disappointment was after Algeria’s defeat, their anger was more intense over what was done by Ghezzal. It may be the first time in the World Cup’s history that a striker is shown two yellow cards within 15 minutes. He made the first mistake after he had replaced Rafik Djebbour in the 85th minute. He got the second yellow card in the 75th minute causing his team’s defeat and reducing their chances to qualify to the second round.

What was done by Ghezzal in such an official match is not tolerable at all. The player’s behaviour showed that he was totally far from professionalism.

Everyone may agree on the fact that Ghezzal did not help the team a lot. He has played more than 30 matches so far but scored three goals only. He scored his first goal in the match against Egypt won by Algeria 3-1 while his second goal was scored in a friendly match against Benin. He scored his third goal against Rwanda which was defeated by three goals.

Ghezzal’s goals were not decisive for the national team as the qualifying goals were scored by defenders such as Antar Yahia and Bougherra.

No doubt that many observers saw what the player did in Sunday’s match against Slovenia. It was not an exceptional scene which may happen to any player. Ghezzal’s behaviour has always been weird and he has always been over-excited.
