Algeria’s water dams boosted by heavy rain

Algeria’s water dams have gone up to over 48 percent after recent heavy rains, according to Algerian Water Minister.

“Rain falls in autumn pushed storages up to 48.32 percent on a 2 billion and 800 million square meters area,” Abdelmalek Sellal told Echorouk.

An average of 30mm fell over several provinces in Algeria in the last few days causing serious damage.

Algeria counts 60 water storages including Koudiat Acerdoune in the town of Bouira which has recently been set up. It is considered now as the largest dam with a capacity of 650 million square meters, according to the minister.
