Algeriaian President Bouteflika calls for respect of Islam and its holy Prophet
The President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika chaired Monday in Dar El-Imam Abderrahmane Ethaalibi in Mohamadia, Algiers , the opening of the 9th National Week of the Holy Quran.
“It is an opportunity to seize in order to show to the rising generations a major historical truth that we are very proud of,” the Head of State underlined in his opening address on the occasion.
“The Algerian society is renowned for its boundless love of the holy Prophet Mohamed (PBUH), this love, which fills the heart of its children since Islam has held sway in Algeria ,” President Bouteflika pointed out.
This major religious event, which is to last 3 days, will see the participation of a host of Muslim scholars, heads of Zaouias or Coranic schools, preachers and many students in religious sciences hailing from the four corners of the country.
According to the religious affairs Minister Bouabdallah Ghoulamoulah, this high-profile encounter is the prelude to an important Maghrebian symposium on the Malekite rite slated to be held in Algiers on April 14, 2008.
