The Algerian government has decided through an instruction to the housing ministerial department to forbid the setting up of any industrial zones in the newly built cities of Sidi Abdallah and Bouinan.

The government’s move is designed to safeguard these new cities’ housing architectural design and to preclude the scourge of pollution and other related hazards.

The housing ministry has also been instructed by the Premiership to open inquiries into reported gross illicit practices by some shadowy and venal businessmen who managed to grab large plots of land in these newly-built cities for anarchical real-estate purposes.

Meanwhile, the housing minister, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, installed on Monday the boards of Directors of the new cities of Sidi Abdallah (in Algiers province) and Bouinan (in Blida province) after a two-year long freeze due to a set of untoward factors.

The last meetings of the boards of Directors of Sidi Abdallah and Bouinan go back to the year 2011.

The housing minister stressed on the occasion the imperious necessity of working out a master plan for new cities on the basis of state-of-the-art technologies in order to speed up the achievement of modern cities endowed with all the proper amenities in various parts of Algeria in the coming years.
