Observers note that the foiled Al-Qaeda meeting was destined to give a fresh impetus to the terror group

Forces of the people's national army ANP have recently succeeded in thwarting in Tizi Ouzou province a planned Al-Qaeda secret meeting during which terrorist chieftains were due to put the finishing touches to a new redeployment strategy for renewed terror activities in the region.

The Army troops foiled such an encounter following a large-scale combing operation in the Amkhoud dense forest where the terrorists encounter was due to take place

The meeting was reportedly about to bring together a host of terrorist chieftains under the chairmanship of  “Abdelmalek Droukel” the leader of the so-called El-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb formerly GSPC, the salafist group for preaching and combat.

Observers note that the foiled Al-Qaeda meeting was destined to give a fresh impetus to the terror group following its scathing setbacks suffered at the hands of the surging troops of the people’s National Army in the area.

Reports quoting security sources said that over 50 terrorists had been slain over the past 3 months in the eastern Tizi Ouzou province while many others had been rounded up by army troops.
