Algerian authorities to assist football clubs to start professionalism on sound basis

The cross ministerial Committee in charge of discussing and launching professionalism in Algeria has met yesterday under the chairmanship of the Premier Ahmed Ouyahia in a bid to forward a series of suggestions likely to pave the way for the first professional league in Algeria as from the next season, reliable sources informed Echourok.

  • The meeting brought together several parties including a representative from the Algerian Football Federation and the Sports and Youth Ministry, in their quality as the two institutions that were assigned the task to set up the basis for a new managerial model in accordance with the guidance and requirements dictated by the International Football Governing Body (FIFA).
  • The Prime Minister has presented during this session a battery of measures designed to speed up the process of the setting up of this new system of competition in a move to shore up the most popular sport in Algeria, it said.
  • The Algerian authorities will fully assist the different Algerian national squads and the clubs alike to honor their country and show best picture possible of the Algerian sport on the international scene starting with the long awaited upcoming World Cup competition in South Africa.
  • The “Greens” under the tutelage of the government
  • The Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia has indicated that the government will take charge of the Algerian national squads especially the first national team regarded as the country’s ambassador abroad… All the means will be pit at the disposal of this young generation that grew up to a source of proud for millions of Algerians.
  • The government at the service of professionalism
  • The committee has suggested assisting financially the clubs at a level of 10 million Algerian Dinars refundable over 15 years. This help will keep the clubs’ budgets afloat during this transitory period and give them a chance to look for other financing sources that will guarantee them a perennial activity.
  • The prime Minister has indicated that in addition of this financial help, the government will put at the disposal of the clubs parcels of land and assist them in building their own stadiums at a level of 80%.
