Algerian authorities to carry on financing housing projects: minister says

Talking yesterday to Echourok, the Algerian housing minister Noureddine Moussa has denied the allegations that the Algerian authorities will resort to the decision to freeze the financial aids allocated by the public treasury to the citizens willing to acquire new houses.

The minister has indicated that the governmental help will continue granting 1%rate credits to the middle class citizens in addition to the help granted by the housing fund to the same category of beneficiaries.

Noureddine Moussa has further added that the law will come into force in the coming few days as announced previously, adding that the national housing fund will proceed to slight revisions of some provisions and procedural means to benefit from this aid that varies from 400 to 700 Thousands Algerian Dinars, according to the beneficiaries’ annual income.

For his part, a top manager from the Professional Association of Public Banks has revealed to Echourok that they didn’t receive any new order from the national housing bank concerning the freezing of the accords agreed upon between the two parties, indicating that the banks are waiting for the release of the bills that rule these procedures.

The same source has ruled out the existence of a will to freeze these financial aids “ The housing fund is maybe reconsidering some procedures, I don’t think that reduce of the credits’ rates is meant by to end the authorities’ direct assistance”. He further added that the aids will be applied according to the middle class standards and not to the upper ones, revealing that the prices were fixed to 30 thousands Algerian Dinars per square meter.
