Algerian authorities to open borders with Morocco exceptionally facilitate access of humanitarian convoy for Gaza.
The Algerian authorities have given their verbal agreement to the organizers of the Gaza- bound humanitarian convoy to open the western borders with Morocco between September 27 and 28 between in a bid to facilitate access to the Moroccan aides, the Arab coordinator of the operation Abderrezak Mekri has revealed.

Talking yesterday in a telephone conversation, M Mekri expressed his relief and hailed the authorities’ move to make of this operation a total success for the benefit of the besieged population of Gaza.

The convoy will head for the port of “ Al Aarich” in Egypt passing through the Maghreban countries where humanitarian aides are collected.

The same source has revealed that more than 70 trucks, clothes, medicines and food stuffs have been collected so far awaiting more before the departure of the convoy from Algiers towards Tunisia.

This is the second time that the Algerian authorities agree to open the frontiers with Morocco since their closing in 1994 in the wake of the explosion that targeted “ Atlas Asseni “ hotel in Marrakech in August of the same year. The first time was in February 2009 to allow the passing of the convoy “ Viva Palestine” led by the former MP George Galloway.
