Algerian cabinet to discuss vital defence ministry’s project in the Algerian south

The Algerian Defence Ministry has decided to beef up security on its southern borders through the building up of roads and pathways as an emergency step.

  •
  • This important project, which has been assigned to the Algerian company in charge of highways’ works “ SONATRO”, will have a double objective; on one hand it will help strengthening security on the Algerian great south, and the other hand it will revive the company’s activities after years of lethargy.
  •
  • The contract was sealed on the basis of a mutual agreement between the Algerian Defence Ministry and the public company.
  •
  •   The Algerian public works minister, Ammar Ghoul, is due to give a thorough presentation today before the members of the cabinet in relation to the mutual agreements sealed by the department of public works of the province of Tamanraset ( southern Algeria) and “ Sonatro” company as well as the public laboratory in charge of the supervision of the project, reliable sources revealed.
  •
  • This utterly important project is a regarded as the defence ministry’s main priority and that the public works ministry will be the project manager considering the vital importance of the project amid the current security threats that prevail currently across the Sahel region especially Mali; regarded as a major terrorists’ stronghold.
  •
  • Bolstering security on the Algerian southern borders across the area ( Tamanrasset – Ilizi) will keep away the Algeria from any danger coming from the neighboring countries like Mali and Niger and will secure the area between Niger and Libya in the sense that the province of Ilizi is located on the borderlines with these two countries.
