Algerian central bank puts foreign organizations’ accounts under scrutiny
The Algerian central bank has frozen the accounts of 15 affiliates of international organizations operating in Algeria over the last few years, reliable sources have revealed to Echourouk.
- The same sources have indicated that the reason behind this extreme procedure is due to the alleged link of these organizations to the terrorist armed groups operating inside and outside the Algerian territory.
- The decision came as part of the international plan to fight against terrorism and drying out its financing sources, it said.
- The same sources denied disclosing the identities of the organizations involved in this procedure for reasons linked to the ongoing investigations on the issue. Inquiries are still underway with some organizations that received sums of money under shady circumstances, according to security assessments.
