Algerian coach Rabah Saadane 40th Arab personality of the year 2010 according to a poll

The Algerian head coach Rabah Saadane has been ranked as the 40th most important personality among the 100 most influential Arab figures of the year 2010 according to the list released by “Arabian Business” magazine.

  • The magazine elects the most prominent Arab personalities operating in various sectors of activities including, business, sports, art, and science and many others.

  • This is the first time that an Algerian personality takes such a position after the 69th place held by the Professor Elias Zerhouni in the 2007 ranking and the 96th taken by the Algerian literary woman Ahlem Moustaghanemi at the same year’s poll.

  • The Dubai- based Magazine, which is released in both English and Arab versions, has chosen Rabah Saadane among the most influential Arab figures for his big achievement with the Algerian national squad that came back on track after their glorious qualification to the South African World Cup in addition to being the first Arab representative in this prestigious competition.

  • The magazine’s editor in chief has declared to Echourok that this year’s list released yesterday comprises 50 new personalities, adding that the selection took into consideration the influence of the personality on the others either in a positive or negative way over the last 12 months.

  • Though the number of women has registered an increase in comparison with last year moving from 13 to 17, men still have the hegemony with 83 personalities led by the Saudi billionaire Prince Walid Ben Tallal as the wealthiest Arab personality.

  • The editor in chief has declared “Rabah Saadane has succeeded to create a team and lead it to the world cup; it’s the first Arab team in the competition. Millions of fans will follow it not only the Algerians… He did a great job that made a difference” .

  • The magazine slashed at the Arab billionaires drawing a parallel between them and their fellow billionaires around the world, giving the example of the pop star “Shakira” who, gives much more than all the wealthy Arab businessmen put together, though her fortune is not that big.
